ARA Congratulates Retailers Honored for Environmental Stewardship
Washington, D.C. (May 21, 2009) – The Agricultural Retailers Association (ARA) congratulates member retail operations that led the competition for the 20th Anniversary of the Environmental Respect Awards, sponsored by DuPont Crop Protection and CropLife magazine. The awards honor the top farm supply retail operations who exemplify environmental stewardship, professional excellence and community involvement. This year, all of the regional retail winners and 19 of the 23 state retail winners are members of ARA.
The following retailers received the Environmental Respect Award for their state, and five were selected as regional winners. They are listed alphabetically according to state.

The winners were selected by a panel of industry experts based on evidence of excellence in site design, in-plant storage and handling procedures, emergency preparedness and response, proper application, and leadership in safety and stewardship among customers and employees.
ARA was represented on the 20th Anniversary selection committee by Michelle Hummel, director of marketing and communications. Others who served on the selection committee were Dr. Raymond Forney, DuPont Crop Protection, Wilmington, Del.; Kristin Morris, DuPont Crop Protection, Wilmington, Del.; Rex Runyon, CropLife America, Washington, D.C.; Pam Guffain, The Fertilizer Institute, Washington, D.C.; Mike Wilson, 2009 National winner, Wabash Valley Service, Browns, Ill.; Allen Fetters, Simplot Grower Solutions (formerly Ripon Farm Service), 1991 National Winner; Pat McConnell, The McGregor Co., 1993 National Winner; Ron Stutsman, Eldon C. Each state winner received the ERA personalized crystal sculpture, a press campaign geared toward select print and broadcast media, and a public relations kit. Regional winners will receive a trophy during a special ceremony on July 22, 2010, in Washington, D.C. The national award winner will also be announced at this time.
