Red Cross officials have issued an emergency request for donations of all types, especially types O, A negative and B negative. For the second straight year, blood and platelet donation levels in June and early July are much lower than expected. Your donation is needed and appreciated more than ever right now.

Some helpful tips for you to remember prior to your donation:
- Maintain a healthy iron level by consuming iron-rich foods.
- Get a good night’s sleep.
- Hydrate - drink at least an extra 16 ounces of water or other non-caffeinated beverages.
- Eat a healthy meal or snack a couple hours before donating.
